Admission is a waste of time (226)
Lesson 45. Preparing for the Foundation Day – 1
Monday classes at Union Academy tend to be a bit dull.
The reason is simple.
This is because most students were not able to completely recover from the fatigue caused by the tower exploration that was held until Sunday.
So, Mondays are mainly for liberal arts classes that don’t require much physical exertion or brain work, and the actual lectures are held from Tuesday to Thursday.
“But I didn’t think I’d miss the entire morning lecture.”
Ban Yu-won muttered in disbelief and looked around.
All students enrolled in the academy from first to fifth grade are gathered in the main auditorium of the academy’s main building where the entrance ceremony was held.
It is now Monday morning.
Just the fact that this wasn’t the usual classroom where professors in theory classes would be emitting sleep waves to students who were dozing off from the fatigue accumulated over the weekend made me feel very uncomfortable.
“Because there’s a good excuse called the founding ceremony.”
Mira, who was sitting right next to Ban Yu-won, spoke calmly.
Yeah, the most uncomfortable thing is the presence of her sitting next to him… … no, the position he is in right now.
Now, Ban Yu-won was not sitting in class 11, grade 1, but was sitting on the stage with the student council officers.
“It’s a strange sight that professors are all excluded from this place… … .”
“It’s even more so because it’s a place like this. It’s a place where we have to respect the authority of the student council. It would be a problem if Professor Jeong showed up and stole our attention.”
“That’s true too.”
It was the student council, not the faculty, that hosted this student assembly.
Normally, we are in a pitiful state, being pushed around here and there to somehow keep the academy running normally with little authority, but when it comes to the Union Founding Ceremony, the Student Council is given a lot of authority, and thanks to that, we were able to create a place like this.
“Haha.”
Mira suddenly burst into laughter as she followed the back of Student Council President Shati, who was standing in front of the stage preparing for her presentation.
“I don’t feel bad because the people who usually make a fuss about special classes are now looking up to me.”
“Control your expression, expression. You look really evil right now.”
Perhaps because of her noble birth status, Mira occasionally makes remarks that belittle the special class.
Sometimes, it feels like they are pitiful, as if they were just born into a world with a high density of mana and are acting like they don’t know what they are doing.
But if you look at it that way, it seems like Mira, who was born as a fairy princess in the A-1 dimension, was just lucky, but if you start to look into it, Ban Yu-won herself is in no position to talk about it, so she decided to just keep her mouth shut.
‘If you think about it, all the students who entered here are competing against each other because they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Even Light and Ruchel, who are from lower dimensions, are royalty. I don’t know about Dokgoyeon, but he seems to have a greater origin than those two… … .’
The only hope is that the spoon does not play an absolute role in determining the superiority of the students gathered in this way.
And the proof of this was Shati, standing proudly on the podium right now.
“Students, I am the student council president, Shati. First of all, I would like to thank you for gathering here.”
Chatty bows her head slightly as she gives a polite introduction.
Thinking about it, Ban Yu-won turned his eyes to the seats at the top where each grade’s special class was located.
It was roughly expected, but unlike the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders who had seats filled, most of the 4th and 5th graders’ seats were empty.
Even though Shati has influence in the special class, those who are higher in grade than her are showing their intention not to acknowledge her.
People who don’t normally attend morning classes won’t know, but people who do will be marked as absent, but since it’s a special class, I guess they don’t mind missing one or two classes.
“Now, I will announce the student council officers for the second semester and the union founding ceremony that is 37 days away. First, the vice president.”
Ban Yu-won was slightly impressed.
It is not possible to gather all the students in one place just because the original student body president and other executives have changed.
But, as expected, Shati’s courage was no ordinary one, as he gathered all the students under the good pretext of the union founding ceremony and created an event to introduce the executives.
However, the reason it is possible is… …perhaps thanks to Ayre, who was recently elected as the new vice president.
“… … .”
Crack, crack.
Aire, wearing sky-blue transparent shoes that resembled her eyes, headed toward the stage at Shati’s call.
Although she looked the same as usual, the whole school’s attention was focused on her as she simply walked forward.
“His charisma is already on par with the Chairman’s.”
“It would have been a perfect appointment if it weren’t for the special class.”
Director of External Activities Rika said, smacking her lips as she nodded in satisfaction at Director of External Activities Graham’s words.
But Vegan Delawalker, the accounting director, seemed to think otherwise.
“It might be even better because it’s a special class. We can’t just keep fighting with the uncooperative special class forever, right?”
“Umm, it would be nice if the current students could create a little bit of a different atmosphere, even if it’s a bit difficult, centered around the new students.”
Rika nodded in agreement with Vegan’s words.
“under.”
Mira, who was listening to those words, snorted and, without caring what others were watching, grabbed Ban Yu-won’s sleeve.
“It’s already happening. Don’t you see?”
“Graham, Mira is trying to brag about her boyfriend again. You do something about it.”
“Everyone, please be quiet.”
While the executives were chatting, Ayre took the microphone and gave a brief self-introduction.
It was so simple that I wondered if it was okay, but as soon as she finished speaking, the applause that started from the first graders was so loud that I soon started liking it.
“Then next, I will introduce the planning manager, who everyone already knows.”
But what was even more surprising was that after Aire’s turn, when Shati took the microphone again and said those words, the entire hall erupted in thunderous cheers.
“Huh… … Did you see it?”
And for some reason, Mira, who was not the one receiving the cheers, showed off her pride and looked very proud.
The moment when the power of Rebellion, which boasts overwhelming recognition not only on Union Net but also within Union Academy’s intranet, was reconfirmed.
Rika, who was also the only fourth-year student among the executives, slightly slumped her shoulders.
“I was originally the student council mascot… … .”
“Forget about that Hako (はこ, box = shack) channel that has less than 100 subscribers.”
“Don’t call me Hakko!”

Ban Yoo-won stepped forward from his seat, slightly exclaiming that derogatory words were everywhere, competing for the number of subscribers.
As he approached the stage, the cheers grew louder, and Ban Yu-won realized once again that the Rebellion Channel had achieved tremendous success.
‘But… … why is it? I don’t know if it’s outside the academy, but it seems a bit strange that the students inside the academy are so crazy about me.’
What he initially hoped for was to create a comfortable space within the Academy where they would not be looked down on simply because they came from a lower dimension.
The purpose was to increase their recognition through the Rebellion Channel and to naturally integrate their presence into the Academy… … But the Rebellion Channel didn’t stop there, and turned them into popular stars representing the school.
Not only students outside the academy, but even those inside it have come to embrace it willingly.
“As expected, the planning manager is special.”
“It’s special.”
“In this expedition alone, I conquered 30 rooms in one go? Hahaha, and that was because they were all chain rooms. I was overwhelmed, so I wonder if others would be foolish.”
“Saying this, standing on the podium and holding out the microphone, Shati said:
“I think everyone has probably noticed a little bit. The fact that the Planning Director is conducting an investigation that could change the history of the Academy.”
To put it bluntly, you could say they have lost their competitive spirit, but more like they are cheering on someone who is climbing a high mountain that they would never have thought of climbing, Shati added.
“Haha, you realize this around the third year. You can’t reach the top by just blindly climbing the tower.”
The wicked thing about towers is that climbing high doesn’t guarantee you’ll reach the top.
And even students who initially had a passion for climbing the tower will sooner or later come to realize that fact.
“But our seniors are still working hard to climb the tower.”
“I’m not saying that my passion for the tower has cooled. It’s just that if I can’t reach the top of the tower, I’ll climb as high as I can. That’s what I’m honestly feeling right now.”
But the anti-Japanese sentiment is different.
Well, the Rebellion party has just reached room 160 and has conquered several chain rooms, trick rooms, and a room large enough to fit an empire… … .
What will the students who have already given up on reaching the top of the tower think when they see that?
Perhaps it is not surprising that they hope that they might actually reach the top of the tower.
“The number of enemies must have increased by that much.”
Ban Yu-won and Shati exchanged bitter smiles as they glanced at the members of the special class who were still glaring at him amidst the endless cheers.
“Welcome back, Planning Manager.”
Shati tapped him on the shoulder.
“Turn both the tower and the academy upside down.”
Ban Yu-won did not answer those words and stood on the podium.
Indeed, after hearing Shati’s words, I finally understood why the Union Academy students were looking at him.
From the beginning, he had been confident that he could climb to the top of the Tower of Babel, so he was able to accept the miraculous events that occurred inside the tower as a given. However, this was not the case for the students who had vaguely given up on conquering the tower, challenging an unknown expedition with no answers.
Not just a simple sense of competition, but an anticipation that he might eventually accomplish what they had been unable to do.
That was the mindset of the academy students looking at him now.
If you think about it, the students here are victims of a groundless myth that their ancestors created for no reason, like the Tower of Babel.
At first, I treated not only the academy professors but also the students as thieves… … But when I changed my perspective, I felt sorry for them too.
‘I guess I’ve become a bit more relaxed now, so I guess I should show a little more tolerance as a landlord.’
He took the microphone he received from Shati and opened his mouth with a grin.
He was met with cheers that threatened to topple the main academy building.
For some reason, Aire seemed a little upset.
* * *
Several large events are held at the Union’s founding ceremony.
This applies to special competitions held between clubs, as well as masquerade balls hosted by the academy.
Surprisingly, all of this is broadcast live under the authority of Union Net, and what is even more surprising is that outside guests are allowed to enter the Academy only for the inaugural ceremony.
There are a few special features, but if you look at them separately, it’s really no different from a school festival held in a high school or university.
And on this day, the preliminary schedule for the Masquerade Ball Tournament was released, and along with it, applications for the ‘special match’ also became possible.
“Senior Ulrike Prominence, I have a favor to ask. Is that okay?”
“Oh, my. What brings you here in person?”
Of course, Ban Yu-won moved immediately.
I hoped that if possible, things wouldn’t turn out the way I imagined, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
It wasn’t just Ban Yu-won who was waiting for the special match at the masquerade ball.
